"Energy Efficiency"
This might not be the most exciting home improvement task you can take on in your home, but it’s certainly one of the easier ways to lower your bills every month. Haus Von Kaiser already has CFLs in most of the light fixtures, but many of them are not designed to work with a dimmer switch. The result is dimmers that ramp up sporadically and buzz. It’s also notable that crappy dimmers like to buzz with CFLs no matter what.
Tonight I swapped a bunch of the standard CFLs for dimmable ones. The new ones are slightly lower wattage, and sure seem to work a lot better. As I upgrade the home with smart lighting, I’ll also be able to preset the various switches to something lower than 100%, adding to the energy savings.
